Deep Down OST
A downloadable soundtrack
This is the soundtrack (so far) for a friend's upcoming game, called Deep Down. As it's a Gameboy styled game, a chiptune OST seemed appropriate. The game is horror themed, playing on many traditional fears such as heights, the dark, and the unknown, and the soundtrack attempts to capture the feeling of intended game progression from a peaceful starting setting down through a series of increasingly distressing cave-based levels, before culminating in a heart-pounding number to match a final challenge in the form of a boss battle or timed challenge. Each track is intended to be looped indefinitely based on game locations, and to suit the Jam theme of "palindrome" every single track's score is the same backward as forward, and some even sound the same when played in reverse.
For the sake of authenticity to music that could be created/played on an actual GameBoy system, the music was created using LittleSoundDJ (https://www.littlesounddj.com/lsd/index.php), running on a BGB (https://bgb.bircd.org/) GameBoy emulator, in addition to the use of My 8-bit Piano (https://my8bitpiano.ape-apps.com/) to work out the score and some Microsoft native editing and music playing software.
